Customers and Prospects

Customers, prospective customers and prospects are all people we need to understand if we are going to appeal to them with our products, marketing and promotion.xx

This Company Policy describes some of the characteristics of these people, making reference to the Hubbard Management System in use by Vibrant Life.

This Company Policy, more pertinently, describes my firm opinion about the "Obama suppression of our society" and the likely effect of that suppression on our public, therefore on us, and therefore the need for extra attention on our marketing to overcome the likely PTS condition of our public, even our staff.

Here is a well-known quote from LRH:

“In this time and in this place – for possibly just a little while – we have this chance. To go free and to make it. Planets and cultures are frail things. They do not endure.

“I cannot promise you that you will make it. I can only provide the knowledge and give you your chance.

“The rest is up to you.

“I strongly advise you to work hard at it – don’t waste this brief breath in eternity.

“For that is your future – ETERNITY.

“It will be good for you or bad.

“And for you, my dearest friend, I
've done what I could to make it good for you.”

- L. Ron Hubbard

And here is another:

"Well, there is a datum which you are familiar with:

IF ONE KNOWS THE TECH OF HOW TO DO
SOMETHING AND CAN DO IT, AND USES IT HE
CANNOT BE THE ADVERSE EFFECT OF IT.

"I can tell you that the full benefit of this datum will not be realized in all sectors until one is all the way up the Bridge. But I can also let you in on a little secret: In order to GET to the topmost parts of the Bridge, one must be very well trained in the tech.

"Our enemy is aberration.

"Our weapon is the tech.

"One cannot truly make it to OT without being armed to the teeth with the tech.....

"The aim is to rid this planet and this universe of crime, war and dismay.

"Armed with the tech, we are unstoppable in achieving that aim."

LRH - NEW YEAR'S MESSAGE - 1985

What if LRH meant just what he said?

Here is another LRH quote:

"Problems. How the preclear is being a problem. He should recognize that he is being his own problem and that he is liable to sit there and be a problem to the auditor.

"His total feeling for the race is that it's in such horrible state because it has so many problems. He has never realized that every man is being his own problems. And without those problems he'd have no randomity.

"He hasn't realized, for instance, that the physical universe is there to create problems and life is there to solve them. So when a person is creating problems, he is, just to that degree that he is creating problems, enmeshed with the physical universe. ...

"Well, we want this preclear to be the solver of problems because that is life. That's the person that adds up and summates ideas and problems—life. The livingness of a person."

— L. Ron Hubbard

And another:

“Purpose only becomes real when it gets to the blood, sweat and tears stage, you know? You have to suffer a little bit. If there’s no suffering involved at all nobody knows he’s experiencing anything.

“Another thing that’s quite interesting about such an activity, it always requires a certain amount of sacrifice–always requires a certain amount of sacrifice–whether of time or of personal interest or even personal possessions, some slight degree. A big game always requires some sacrifice.”

Here is another:

In ADVANCE! Mag Issue 51 LRH says:

“Nobody could possibly be serious and win in this universe. The more serious a person gets (and 1.5 is real serious) the more they have to do things by flows, and the more they have to agree and the more they have to follow the rules, and the more broken the piece becomes. This universe starts surrendering to a Spirit of Play. And one of the Spirits of Play is ‘Let’s pretend’.

“Really, the most valuable thing that a thetan possesses is his spirit of play. This is a sensation of play and is not just energy. It’s a tremendous sensation.

“A guy has practically lost it if he’s here on Earth at all. He’s depending on all sorts of soggiest, low tone scale emotions imaginable in order to get any sensation. In substitute for what? Spirit of Play. For instance, sex is about eight-rate as an emotion. It is just dull, incalculably dull compared to the rapidity, randomity and actual sensation of the Spirit of Play. It’s way up there.

“…So the more seriously you take the game, the less chance there is of winning. The bottom of the Tone Scale is ‘lose’ and the top of it is ‘win’.

“This tells you that it takes lots of space and lots of unseriousness to win!”

And another:

"You'll have what you devote energy to, but remember that it's your own energy you're devoting to it and it doesn't necessarily belong to the MEST universe at all.

"When you devote your own energy to it, you're going to have something worth having. But when you insist on having that energy handed to you BY the the MEST universe, you'll wind up with trash every time."

LRH - PDC LECTURE 24 - WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS UNIVERSE: A WORKING PACKAGE FOR THE AUDITOR

I have had no trouble accepting LRH as speaking truth, even though many others seem to want to slide by some of these types of warnings -- thinking, "Well, that doesn't apply to me."

Britain, in its own dark times, chose to contract, to its detriment, while India, rich with the heritage of Buddha, went to its dark ages because of out-ethics:

Buddhism, earlier than that [earlier than LRH-quoted example of the contraction of the Catholic Church], expanded continuously as it never sought new extension of territory other than that of learning. Buddhism failed in India alone because its monks became licentious, ceased to deliver true teachings and were swept up, most likely, in India alone, by the Muslim conquest of that unhappy country sometime around the seventh century.

Britain of the twentieth century actively sought to contract her empire and did so to the tune of internal economic catastrophe.

SINGLE PRINCIPLE

Thus it should be obvious that contraction leads to death and expansion to life, providing that one maintains a demand for itself and the will and skill to produce and deliver a product.

If, as ours is, the product is very beneficial and if we continue to produce and deliver, the demand is assured. In this we are fortunate. And we are also fortunate that, try as they will, no squirrel is ever able to duplicate our product since one variation (that of changed brand) leads to others and they promptly have neither product nor demand -- that observation is itself empirical. No squirrel has lasted more than two or three years in the past sixteen years. And there have been many. That they squirrel shows enough bad faith to drive away the public the moment the public hears of the original.

Is it safe to assume that LRH was exaggerating dangers just to impinge?

While Vibrant Life does not have a product as "beneficial" as Scientology, the Vibrant Life products are far more secure in these times, than what now floods the communication and marketing channels of our society.

LRH has not often named specific presidents of the US, but the few I've found generally include very derogatory remarks. LRH has also mentioned "Lord Keynes," and his economic theories a few times, of great relevance to "Obama Economics."

Here is one LRH quote about President Carter that may also relate to Mr. Obama since President Carter, like Obama, believed in Keynesian economics.

Look at Carter, the past unlamented president. Although he talked a lot about leadership, although he was the darling of the working man and all that, in office he was so wishy-washy, soft and incompetent -- everybody's pal -- that they eventually threw him out with a landslide victory for his opponent [Reagen], a very tough talking man who was actually ANTISOCIALIST.

A little more than a year later, Ronald Reagan defeated Carter by offering Americans a vision that was as optimistic as Carter's was pessimistic. Source

Obama subscribes to Keynesian economics, which I would argue – with the single exception of its implementation during the Great Depression – does not work. And it can be argued that, even then, it was other factors that contributed to the success of said economic theory.

A simple explanation of Keynesian economics is that it calls for government intervention to jump-start a sagging /failing economy. John Keynes' economic theory argued for a circular flow of money, i.e., one person's spending goes toward another's earnings, and that as that people spend their earnings, they are in effect supporting another's earnings. Keynes opposed free-market capitalism and the belief that an uninhibited market will achieve economic balance on its own.

Simplistically put, Keynesian economics also opposes too much personal saving in favor of spending as a means to jump-start the economy. And while that may read as logical – it is the means of effecting said spending that portends the draconian intervention as a means of accomplishing it.

It calls for a massive redistribution of wealth whenever needed, as determined by government. Keynesianism argues that if those designated as poor are given sums of money, they will spend it rather than save it, and thus promote economic growth. To be fair, this was the intent of this year's economic stimulus checks – the difference being that the public, as a whole (well, almost as a whole), underwrote the checks that went to individuals and couples earning below a specified amount.

Raising taxes on the so-called wealthy and penalizing businesses for being successful, with the intent of giving to those who already contribute (vis-à-vis taxes) little or nothing to the economic climate, doesn't work. It didn't work for Jimmy Carter when the top personal income tax rate was 70 percent. Artificially increasing the spending power of the lower 50 percent, by increasing the tax burden on the top 5-20 percent of income earners didn't work then, and it won't work now.

As has been argued by free-market capitalists, myself included, the lowering of the capital gains rate, the cutting of the corporate tax rate and making it easier for small businesses to start – get credit and operating capital – without the millstone of government weighing them down – is the proven way to build a vibrant economy from the ground up.

Ronald Reagan understood this basic economic principle, as did President Kennedy, and as does President Bush – a fact his father, George H. W. Bush, forgot and Bill Clinton, who ran as a centrist supply-sider, pretended to favor before ultimately turning to the Keynesian left.

Many, vastly more economically versed than I argue that Obama's economic plan, if implemented, will make France look like a burgeoning economy and Carter's economic plan look like one of genius. (Source)

The unhappiness and tumult in current society is oddly current with the Keynesian economic theory of creating want. It's a silly theory and has lately become to be abandoned. But it was in vogue forty years or more, as I recall. It produced the "welfare era" of the psychiatrist and the total slavery of the taxpayer!

The revival of Keynesian economics

Created: 22 October 2008

Written by: Chris Dillow

"We are all Keynesians now." So said President Richard Nixon in 1971. And it's true once more, as counter-cyclical fiscal policy is suddenly fashionable again. Alistair Darling has promised to fast-track public infrastructure spending in an effort to boost the economy, whilst Fed chairman Ben Bernanke has said it is "appropriate" to consider a fiscal stimulus package. (source).

Keynes argued that the solution to depression was to stimulate the economy ("inducement to invest") through some combination of two approaches: a reduction in interest rates, and government investment in infrastructure. Investment by government injects income, which results in more spending in the general economy, which in turn stimulates more production and investment involving still more income and spending and so forth. The initial stimulation starts a cascade of events, whose total increase in economic activity is a multiple of the original investment. Source

and

As prolongation of the 1930s Depression and stagflation in the 1970s demonstrated, Senator Obama’s announced policies are a prescription for economic disaster. Keynesian economic doctrine, not under that name, but in substance, is back in the news in a truly menacing way. Senator Obama proposes to repeat the policies of Franklin Roosevelt’s New Deal that turned an ordinary two-year recession into an eight-year disaster, with unemployment rates continuously in the high teens.

The key elements of Senator Obama’s proposed economic policies, as in the New Deal and the stagflation of the 1970s, are much higher taxes, along with a pervasive increase of business regulations and price controls in healthcare and energy (which sharply depress business activity and employment rates), full-frontal embrace of labor unions (which will push up wages and benefits to levels deterring profitable expansion of industrial production), and massive new government deficit spending (which will accelerate the already dangerously high rate of inflation and devaluation of the dollar). Carried out as he proposes, Senator Obama’s polices will lead us again into the swamp of stagflation.(source)

Federal policymakers are moving ahead with a huge $800-billion stimulus plan to return the U.S. economy to growth. Will it work? Decades of macroeconomic research suggest that it won't. Indeed, the revival of old-fashioned Keynesianism to fight the recession seems to stem more from political expediency than modern economic theory or historical experience.

The idea of using fiscal policy to boost the economy during a downturn was championed by John Maynard Keynes in the 1930s. Keynes argued that market economies can get stuck in a deep rut and that only large infusions of government stimulus can revive growth. He posited that high unemployment in the Great Depression was due to "sticky wages" and other market problems that prevented the return of full-employment equilibrium. Interestingly, Keynes did not offer any evidence that sticky wages were a serious problem, and later research indicated that wages actually fell substantially during the 1930s. Instead, one needs to look at a range of government interventions to explain why the downturn lasted so long.

Ike Brannon is former Senior Advisor at the U.S. Treasury. Chris Edwards is Director of Tax Policy Studies at the Cato Institute.

Despite the flaws in Keynes' analysis, his prescription of fiscal stimulus to increase aggregate demand during recessions became widely accepted. Governments came to believe that by manipulating spending or temporary tax breaks they could scientifically manage the economy and smooth out business cycles. Many economists thought that there was a trade-off between inflation and unemployment that could be exploited by skilled policymakers. If unemployment was rising, the government could stimulate aggregate demand to reduce it, but with the side-effect of somewhat higher inflation. (Source)

Many places LRH writes about the importance of NOT GETTING INTO DEBT.

Much of the current economic turmoil traces back to the leverage used in banking -- where one dollar (nothing more than paper IOU from the Federal Reserve Bank) can be deposited into a Bank. The Bank then counts that as real money and, after many twists and turns, there can be many thousands of dollars borrowed because of that one dollar that was deposited.

LRH says:

Now what is inflation? INFLATION IS DETERMINED BY THE RATIO BETWEEN THE DEPOSITED GOODS And the number of receipts issued. This present society has got it up to several thousand to one. In banking, I would never go above three to one. That is sound banking.

But these current "bankers" extend it out on whether or not they think the guy's credit is any good. They extend it out on whether or not he's going to issue some stocks or shares of his own. (His own issued "receipts.") And then they're going to keep those as security and, honest to Pete, you're up here in froth. That is strictly froth. This whole current banking system is in froth. Even the American Federal Reserve bonds and so forth, which is bought by the public, but recently, two "issues" have gone out on the same transaction which was based on nothing to begin with.

The Church marketing and promotion on the tremendous emphasis on reading the Basics has not included danger warnings for failure to do so, but I think SHOULD HAVE. I've always felt that the whole story on why the Basics are promoted as so very important -- that story has seemed inadequate to explain the emphasis.

Fair or not, I've then looked for any further reasons and had no difficulty in coming up with:

I believe Int Mgt can see the same Suppressive dangers I see, the Obama mess and coming dark times. I believe that Int Mgt sees these dark times as having tremendous adverse affect on individual Scientologists and businesses during their current life times.

Whether seen that way or not, blowing THAT whistle, in detail, would only push people who cannot confront evil down tone.

Within our own Policy, we CAN confront evil and make plans for possible economic and social catastrophe in America.

Important Revision on March 9, 2009, by Karl Loren

Click Here to review credible alternative view of Obama, from the WSJ. "IF TRUE" the data at this link could possibly change my assessment of the current economic scene representing a classification of Obama as an SP, but would NOT change my assessment of these coming "dark times" as something we need to understand and be prepared for.

This WSJ article by a "economic expert" who worked in the Clinton Administration and in the Obama Campaign is not, in my opinion, credible, but I include it here to present some of their "irrational rationality."

The biggest change, were this WSJ article valid, would be the need for understanding the impact of the new trillions of dollars of debt and the method by which this debt might be repaid.

I'm not yet convinced enough to revise completely this page, but do want to put this notice here. The LRH quote, from his Banking Policy, makes it clear enough that these trillions of dollars of "bank-leveraged froth" can only bring ruin to our society.

That said, the "social changes" being wrought by Obama have always loomed larger in damaging probable effect than the financial -- his proposed changes affecting health care, education, energy, and basic form of government (socialism rather than capitalism) are not out of the woods for me yet.

For instance, I do not believe there is any truth in the "global warming" story. Thus, there is no honesty or validity in any "cap and trade" change -- a "social change" -- that will cause citizens trillions of dollars for false value. Click HERE to read another WSJ article on that subject.

The "really bottom line" is still the same -- we are in for much randomity that calls for being very alert and keeping our Policies well aligned with the LRH management system we adhere to.

At the link the title is: "Could I Be Wrong About Obama?" I still do not think I am wrong about him, but did want to publish any possible credible Obama claims that I might be wrong.

I do not believe the Church can be destroyed, but its expansion can be delayed if its public has suddenly become so PTS to the Obama Suppression that they cannot as easily as in the past, put attention or money on the Bridge. (The same will be true of our customers' willingness to buy our products. We have the same need for increased and possibly different marketing as does the Church.)

The basic on a solution for our problem, per LRH:

"The entire mechanism of how this energy-space production unit, the awareness of awareness unit which you are, gets stuck in a body, gets stuck in a universe, is totally contained in communication and is not contained in affinity or reality at all—although these two slightly monitor the condition of being stuck. ...
"Communication is the single most powerful item or object in this or any other universe. With communication is created space, energy and time itself. And the only way that anybody gets stuck to anything is by a failure to complete something known as the cycle of communication."
— L. Ron Hubbard

Excerpted from the lecture The Affinity-Reality-Communication Triangle, delivered on 19 January 1955

Years ago it seemed true that the SPs were willing to have atomic warfare JUST to destroy Scientology.

That danger was handled by the Church burying tech in underground, hidden vaults, so that even with earth destroyed, some thousands of years later "people" could re-discover the tech.

The NEW DANGER? I see the PTS people amongst us as not able to confront evil and CHOOSING Obama and his philosophy to be unleashed on earth. At the root of his philosophy, now, is not to destroy Scientology but to delay its expansion. A delayed expansion means, of course, that SOME PEOPLE may never get it or may have to wait for many life-times.

The SPs are willing to harm all of mankind, just for the purpose of slowing down the expansion of Scientology.

If that appears to be true, and true about our short-range future (10 years or so), then what can Int Mgt promote now that would help the largest possible number of people to survive not only the coming Dark Times, but to learn the stable data in the Basics so that, even in death and return, they will have THOSE basics in their next life time, many of them having that next life time within the next 10 years or so, either because of natural causes or because of Obama-created threats to life.

Obama is an evil. Failure to act in the face of earlier evils led to Dark Ages and unnecessary harm and misery -- but mostly delay in reaching freedom.

Obama is the evil, but the tools he is using are financial, and international financial particularly. On that front, the purpose of this financial turmoil, this deliberate design of the chaos here and coming is, as a friend from 30 years ago recently wrote as I have quoted below. I am omitting his name, but quite willing to give it to someone I know. His article is published on a public web site, link found on the link below.

The purpose of this financial crisis is to take down the United States and the U.S. dollar as the stable datum of planetary finance and in the midst of the resulting confusion, put in its place a Global Monetary Authority - A planetary financial control organization to “ensure this never happens again.” See the entire article.

Council has 'laid foundations' for London Summit, says Brown

European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso (back) talks with Czech deputy Prime Minister for European Affairs Alexandr Vondra (L), British Prime Minister Gordon Brown (C) and Dutch Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende (Getty Images)

Prime Minister Gordon Brown said Europe had 'laid the foundations' for the G20 summit in London on 2 April. Leaders of the 27 member states of the European Union pledged to take action to underpin economic growth and financial markets, tighten financial regulation (source)

Obama does not have to understand or be a part of the deliberate plan to create this financial chaos. HE sees it as HIS tool for getting control of trillions of dollars to bring about the social change HE wants. HIS intentions are just as evil, but HE is not personally clever enough to plan the international financial coupe that is occurring.

On the other side, these conspirators planning this financial chaos find Obama's promise of "free money" plenty of cover for them to manipulate the financial system without notice or objection by the citizens.

In news on Friday, March 13, 2009, Mr. Obama was asked by a reporter about "what will happen if the stimulus doesn't work?" Obama replied: "I won't be here in 2013" if the stimulus doesn't work." People in Congress are worrying about that right now, "hoping" that their grand experiment, at the risk of the taxpayers, will work. They don't have any clue and not much hope:

Barack Obama will stand for re-election in 2012, while the 254 Democrats in the House of Representatives will next face the voters in 2010. There will be friction.

For House Democrats, whose ’10 campaigns will succeed or fail based on the public’s confidence in Obama, it’s essential that voters feel the economy is improving —significantly — by Election Day. The White House, though, is free to take a slightly longer view. Sure, Democratic losses in ’10 wouldn't be helpful, but for Obama, the real target date is November 6, 2012.

These conflicting senses of urgency are now coming into focus. On Tuesday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told the press that she might be receptive to a second stimulus bill, to supplement the $787 billion package passed by Congress last month. David Obey, her loyal lieutenant and the chairman of the Appropriations Committee, then announced that his staff was already at work on a follow-up stimulus program (although he made clear that there are no imminent plans to formally introduce it).

Pelosi and Obey and many of their Democratic colleagues are acting on fears that the first stimulus bill, watered down by compromise, won’t be adequate to get the job done—an argument that New York Times columnist Paul Krugman has been advancing, and one that was impressed on Pelosi and other top Democrats in a meeting with economists on Tuesday.

By this line of thinking, the current stimulus will have only a marginal impact on the economy, creating or saving—under the best-case scenario—3.5 millions jobs. With more than four million jobs already lost and 610,000 disappearing last month alone, this would probably leave unemployment at or near 10 percent at the end of 2010. Source

The full story about the so-called "Dodd Amendment" is very simple for an honest person to see.

The mucked over public story is just that, mucked over. It has pieces of truth in it but the attempted fraud proves that some large number of people belong in jail, starting from Obama on down until the mess is finally cleaned up.

The truth is that Dodd, one day, claimed that he deliberately wrote language that would allow those AIG bonuses to be "clawed back" by the government but said that HIS words were changed in the Conference Committee and that the Conference change were hidden as to the person who made the change.

The next day, caught in his own lie, Dodd simply resorted to incoherence.

Dodd admitted that his claim that he was not responsible for the "bonus exception" was not correct.

From the Wall Street Journal on March 19, 2009:

WASHINGTON -- A provision in President Barack Obama's stimulus law might have forestalled payment of $165 million in bonuses to employees of American International Group Inc., but was altered before final passage at the request of the Obama administration, Senate Banking Committee Chairman Christopher Dodd said Wednesday night.

Mr. Dodd, a Connecticut Democrat, introduced a provision into the stimulus that capped executive pay, among other things. But the final language specifically excluded bonuses included in contracts signed before the bill's passage -- a broad category that included the AIG bonuses. At the time, few objected to that move, which was designed to ensure the measure was constitutional.

"I did not want to make any changes to my original Senate-passed amendment but I did so at the request of Administration officials, who gave us no indication that this was in any way related to AIG," Mr. Dodd said in a statement. "Let me be clear -- I was completely unaware of these AIG bonuses until I learned of them last week."

The world will now be divided into two camps:

The first group will be those who see the true truth, a few.

The second group will be the much larger number who say, "Well, Dodd didn't write the final language and 'nobody knows' who did."

Senate Banking Committee Chairman Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) on Monday night floated the idea of taxing American International Group (AIG) bonus recipients so the government could recoup some or all of the $450 million the company is paying to employees in its financial products unit. Within hours, the idea spread to both houses of Congress, with lawmakers proposing an AIG bonus tax.

While the Senate was constructing the $787 billion stimulus last month, Dodd added an executive-compensation restriction to the bill. The provision, now called “the Dodd Amendment” by the Obama Administration provides an “exception for contractually obligated bonuses agreed on before Feb. 11, 2009” -- which exempts the very AIG bonuses Dodd and others are now seeking to tax.

Dodd’s original amendment did not include that exemption, and the Connecticut Senator denied inserting the provision.

“I can't point a finger at someone who was responsible for putting those dates in,” Dodd told FOX. “I can tell you this much, when my language left the senate, it did not include it. When it came back, it did.”

[Some day or two later Dodd admitted this was not true.]

“Because of negotiations with the Treasury Department and the bill Conferees, several modifications were made,” Dodd Spokesperson Kate Szostak in a response to FOX Business.

The provision excluding those bonus payments made it into the final version of the bill, and is law.

Separately, Sen. Dodd was AIG’s largest single recipient of campaign donations during the 2008 election cycle with $103,100, according to opensecrets.org. Also, one of AIG Financial Products’ largest offices is based in Connecticut.

“Senator Dodd was completely unaware of these AIG bonuses until he learned of them in the past few days,” wrote Szostak. To suggest that the bonuses affecting AIG had any effect on Senator Dodd’s action is categorically false.” (SOURCE)

The "Dodd thing" is rightly called a trivial matter in comparison with the trillions going to banks and never investigated, but the Dodd Thing is a helpful "string" to pull -- to see what other fish might be on the line.

No matter HOW BAD these financial problems may seem, they are trivial compared to the lurch toward dictatorship by Obama, and his sweeping changes in the social fabric of the Country.

Changes announced by Obama in the areas of education, health care, energy and welfare portend further damage to citizens.

The school-voucher movement is under assault, as opponents have cut federal funding and states move to impose new restrictions on a form of school choice that has been a cornerstone of the conservative agenda for education overhaul.

Vouchers -- which give students public money to pay private-school tuition -- have grown since a 2002 Supreme Court decision upheld their use in religious schools. About 61,700 students use them in the current school year, up 9% from last year, according to the Alliance for School Choice, a voucher advocate.

But earlier this month, Congress voted to stop funding a voucher program for the District of Columbia. Two other prominent voucher programs -- in Milwaukee and Cleveland -- are facing statehouse efforts to impose rules that could prompt some private schools to stop taking voucher students.

Pressure is mounting from other corners as well. President Barack Obama has said he opposes vouchers, and the stimulus bill he signed in February bars its funds from being used to provide financial aid to students attending private schools. On Wednesday, the Arizona Supreme Court ruled that two state voucher programs, benefiting foster children and disabled students, violated Arizona's state constitution. Source

LRH says that the most difficult thing to confront is evil. Read that quote further below.

I see the evil and see its imminent affect on billions of people. I do not want to wait to give this evil a chance to change by some mysterious force of history.

I created Vibrant Life and all the research, products and writings. That is MY/BONNIE'S best insurance of a comfortable this-life-time retirement AND a good return environment.

The Church has been and will be an important LARGER part of that comfort and survival, but it would be foolish, indeed, for me to NOT take whatever personal actions I can in this life time to insure this life time's survival and the many next.

Vibrant Life is one of the main parts of that future survival. I see a self-survival need for me to continue to help VL expand and prosper, and am doing so.

The LLC structure which I am building is a very important part also -- particularly the longer-range future for Vibrant Life.

I have no willingness to wait "to see if Obama is right" even as many of my "good friends" do not choose to confront his evil and the probable consequences of their own non-confront.

Obama offers to those who cannot confront evil -- a hope that his promises of free money, welfare state, universal, free health care -- will help themselves and society.

These Obama offers appeal to people who still support Obama? They seem like PTS doom to me.

Just for instance, Obama seems hell-bent at bringing completely socialized medicine to America. Such form of "care" will increase the number of people who are NOT satisfied with that type of care and look for us.

But that type of care will also shrink the market for us because so many people will THINK they can get health care from that socialized system. They will get more drugs, including psychiatric drugs, decreasing the market for us.

But, knowing LRH as I do, I do not marvel at the vast differences in perception of the future on the part of many, even the many I know personally.

LRH writes:

An inability to confront evil leads people into disregarding it or discounting it or not seeing it at all.

Reversely, there can be a type of person who, like an old-time preacher, sees nothing but evil in everything and, possibly looking into his own heart for a model, believes all men are evil.

I, Karl Loren, do not see myself in this preacher-mode.

Man, however, (as you can read in HCOB 28 Nov 70, C/S Series 22, PSYCHOSIS), is basically good. When going on some evil course he attempts to restrain himself and caves himself in.

LRH writes, elsewhere, of long time cycles of life times where a being may BE an SP over a range of many thousands of years -- all those years suppressing some area around him -- and coming then to a new cycle of existence -- where he had, as you might say, changed his mode. These cycles, without ethics intervention, can take many thousands of years of "waiting" for some "natural change."

These are the only LRH reference I know of to what might be called "natural" cycles of being good and being bad.

The Chart of Human Evaluation in Science of Survival was right enough. And such people also can be found by the Oxford Capacity Analysis where the graph is low and well below a center line on the right.

This sort of thing can be handled of course by auditing but the Esto does not depend on that to handle his staff's problems.

Criminal actions proceed from such people unless checked by more duress from without not to do an evil act than they themselves have pressure from within to do it.

Criminality is in most instances restrained by just such an imbalance of pressures.

There is no one and no group (yet) restraining Obama. I think there will be that restraint applied, but it will not be some NATURAL evolution of history in the short run.

I believe I see clearly HOW this will happen. It is not natural or accidental.

If you have no ethics presence in an org, then criminality shows its head.

Such people lie rather than be made to confront.
Do you think LRH is writing here of the "criminal" or the "staff" who cannot confront evil?

They false report -- they even use "PR," which means public relations, to cover up -- and in our slang talk "PR" means putting up a lot of false reports to serve as a smoke screen for idleness or bad actions.

Unless you get ethics in, you will never get tech in. If you can't get tech in, you won't get admin in.

So the lack of ethics permits the criminal impulse to go unchecked.

Yes, it could be handled with tech. But to get money you have to have admin in.

Unless there is ethics and ways to get it in, no matter how distasteful it may seem, you will never get tech and admin in.

HCOPL 4 April 1972, Issue I. Ethics

Many of the American Public say they "hope" President Obama is right, that his plan of massive spending and new debt "will work." They say, "Give him a chance to prove that his way will work."

You wish to wait? I do not wait.

LRH, surely better than any other person, was able to confront evil. He recorded a famous message to his friends, Scientologists, on WHO and HOW the suppressives on the planet were attempting to destroy:

“Our enemies on this planet are less than twelve men.

“They are members of the Bank of England and other higher financial circles. They own and control newspaper chains and they are, oddly enough, directors in all the mental health groups in the world, which have sprung up. Now, these chaps are very interesting fellows. They have fantastically corrupt backgrounds, illegitimate children, government graft – a very unsavory lot. And they apparently, sometime in the rather distant past, had determined upon a course of action.

“ Being in control of most of the gold supplies of the planet, they entered upon a program of bringing every government to bankruptcy and under their thumb, so that no government would be able to act politically without their permission. The rest of their program was to use mental health – which is to say, psychiatric electric shock and prefrontal lobotomy – to remove from their path any political dissenters. They were the people behind the Siberia Bill which almost passed the House of Representatives in the United States – and did pass, if I remember rightly, the Senate – which gave the power to any Governor of any state in the United States, simply to pick up anyone on the street and send him to Alaska. We defeated this Siberia Bill and many other ‘mental health’ (quote, unquote) acts of this character, but never really before knew from whom they were coming.

“Anyway, these fellows have gotten nearly every government in the world to owe them considerable quantities of money through various chicaneries and they control, of course, income tax, government finance… “They organized these mental health groups which sprang up simultaneously all over the world. And anything that has ‘mental health’ in it as – in its name – or ‘mental hygiene’ or other things of that character (such names as that) are all part of the organization which stems from these less than a dozen, really, men.

“Now, this is very interesting because we innocently moved forward in 1950 and came straight across this very, very broad plot. If there was a cure to mental illness, then people would say, ‘You had better send him to an auditor’ and would begin to ask questions if someone was electric shocked or given a prefrontal lobotomy, whereas only by electric shocking and prefrontal lobotomies could they effectively remove their political enemies or objectors.

“Now, of course, these fellows are very suppressive indeed and they are actually quite miserable. They are fighting the Martians and everyone and anyone is their enemy. They are very badly served. Any of their people can be bought for a hundred pounds. These fellows are unable, of course, as any suppressive, really to complete a cycle of action and they always choose the wrong target whenever they go about anything…

“Now, these people are not our major objective. We are not even vaguely dedicated to their destruction; otherwise we long since would have utilized the information which we have on them. If you were driving a fire engine toward a raging fire and some cur dogs rushed out to bark at your wheels, I don’t think you would stop and begin to fight the cur dogs, unless you were quite mad, of course. And that is our position. There is a fire which we are en route to put out. And this is the line we are traveling, and this other is merely a sideshow which has been impeding and has made the work relatively difficult. It is rather hard to drive with a dozen cur dogs getting in underneath your wheels and around and about the fire engine.

“But you see at once that the world is not full of people who are against us. As a matter of fact they went much too far and the public has now begun to turn in our direction. They said too much which was untrue…

“The mission of organizations is to form the first part of the Bridge up from the wog world up to the level of Clear. It is as far from Clear to OT as it is from wog to Clear. Organizations are performing their actions in this very splendidly…

“The individual auditor and Scientologist is performing his mission very, very well and is doing marvelously. There isn’t enough praise I could give.

“In the lower grades, one is mainly concerned with himself and his own case or his immediate family, but as one moves up the line one becomes more concerned with the environment and the world in which he lives. And with this concern, comes the realization that all has not been well…

“As one’s ability to confront increases, his level of responsibility increases, and an OT cannot be an OT in a world which is insane or a universe which is mad.

“Although the scope of the work is almost unimaginably extensive, it is nevertheless true that we are making definite and positive inroads upon this, and we will bring it off. We no longer are dealing with the time span of Man which is 70 years – we are dealing with the centuries. And we have enough time at the upper levels to bring it off, providing we work quickly enough at the lower levels and within the framework of the society itself, to prevent it from destroying itself before we attain our purposes and goals.

“It possibly is a bit above your reality to say that we intend to salvage this sector. No one has been able to do it for 75 million years. We are the first. In that period of time there has been nothing but suffering and misery for its populations…

“Without your support we could do nothing, and so we are very glad of your support. Any suppressive element is bound to lean on us very hard. And where it is permitted to enter the organization and permitted to make nothing of our plans and activities, of our purposes and even our gains, we will lose to that extent. Therefore we must have a very tight ethics perimeter inside our organizations. And those people who are making slighting remarks about what is going on are simply, in their own way, trying to stop the forward progress. All they will really succeed in doing is stopping themselves.

“From here on the world will change. But if it changes at all and if it recovers, it will be because of the Scientologist; it will be because of the auditor and his technical skill; it will be because of the organization and the organization staff member and his dedication. In all the broad universe there is no other hope for Man than ourselves. This is a tremendous responsibility. I have borne it too long alone. You share it with me now…

“I am very thankful that you exist. I need your help. I need your support, and no matter what you are doing in Scientology, outside or inside organizations, you are helping me and you are helping us and you are also moving forward to the resolution of aberration, war and dismay in this universe.

“An essential difference between us and those who make mock of such efforts is we know where we’re going. We know what we’re doing and we are moving forward on a very positive, laudable, decent track.

“We are doing our jobs. That cannot be said for others…

“Thank you very much for being here. I appreciate what you’re doing. I need your help and I am very grateful for what you have done.

“Goodbye for now. I will see you up the line, at the other end of the Bridge.”

Here is more data about Psychiatry, from a Church Website:

Scientology’s battle against psychiatry is receiving more and more support across the world.

Largely unchallenged in the century after psychiatry’s origin in Leipzig Germany, and its steady and brutal campaign against the dignity and freedom of man, psychiatry hit its only major dissent in the early 1950s.

Brock Chisholm* with his friends which included Harry Dexter White* and Alger Hiss* were very alarmed at Scientology’s threat to their sweeping plans.

Secretly, from cover which was not fully exposed until last year, they used every press and government channel they could hoodwink and control to discredit Scientology, its principles and its organizations.

Up until then, the groups of psychology and psychiatry had worked undetected for nearly eighty years in establishing an above-law dominance.

There was some challenge in the late 19th century when authors occasionally exposed this psychiatric group as acting to do away with the rich relative so that some unprincipled family member would benefit and give the asylum keeper his cut.

In the first quarter of the 20th century the movies often portrayed their mad experimentations as inhuman and the “Mad Russian doctor” was a prime horror movie villain.

With tactics which would have filled a confidence trickster with awe, the psychiatric front groups successfully wiped out all important criticism and by 1950 was secretly and successfully engaged upon a two-pronged campaign:

     (a) The degradation and dominance of man and

     (b) The harvesting of government millions.

In 1948 when “Dr.” Brock Chisholm and a dozen other fellow conspirators in the World Federation of Mental Health and the World Health Organization took over the grass roots international organization of Clifford Beers and perverted it to their own planning, they had no real powerful enemy in the world.

The 19th century ridicule of their kind had died out. By vast pretensions and lies they had worked themselves into a towering position of power and authority.

They authored easy seizure laws in every land; they were in a position to kidnap and kill any human being on the planet. Their word was accepted without question as the only authority on sanity and insanity, crime and criminality, and life and death. The money was rolling in in avalanches.

This was no mean trick as it was done without any demonstration of any kind that they could cure or change insanity or make even one man consistently well. It was a trick done without any helpful technology. It was done totally by “PRO” skills—public relations, press, pomp, brag, “the best people.”

More data on this here:

PROHIBITION

US Prohibition was an example. A dozen years, millions spent in enforcement, huge revenues lost, countless lives sacrificed, crime financed, all came about because the law was contrary to the mores and customs of the people. It could not be enforced. It eventually had to be repealed.

Those who proposed it and voted for it and tried to enforce nonalcoholism on the people were ignorant of political science.

When fascists and totalitarians try to force their ideas on a democratically minded population (or vice versa) catastrophe occurs.

Wars, mass murders, raw red revolutions, overthrown governments and vanished civilizations all come from an ignorance of political science.

Those with the name of government have some clever knack of handling an office or party or the press, but have no command of their basic trade. If a plumber were that ignorant of the technology of laying pipes, we would laugh at him. But these ignorant tinkerers in a field which does not have natural law are looked up to, honored, overpaid and revered. That so many of them get buried and that there is so much trouble in the world seems to be looked on as “inevitable.” Trying to fix TV sets with no knowledge of or training in electronics is exactly comparable to political leaders governing without even ten minutes spent studying political science. Yet no state on the planet requires their leaders to take at least a cram course in their trade before they take their seats.

So that is one area of the humanities which is ignored and where physical science has outstripped over vital knowledge.

Everyone knows that physical sciences have outstripped the “humanities” today and that the planet is endangered by incautious application of science without humanitarian restraint.

The H-bomb which could give electrical power cheaply to all the world is used instead as a threat to “deter” war.

Poisons flood the streams and eradicate fish. Industry and other actions sweep away game. Yet the cry is up that the population must be reduced because food will be short.

A thousand thousand such idiocies tell us that material knowledge has run away with good sense and that the “humanities” are deficient in technology.

Yet no one has said just which of the humanities are deficient.

POLITICAL SCIENCE

The zones of ignorance in the humanities are in fact very few.

First and most flagrant is a lack of political science. A great deal of this technology actually exists, but it is hidden in the back halls of learning. Smothering it are political ambitions. There is a subject called political science. It is in a crude form but many of the rules of this technology have been isolated. Lessons learned from past civilizations have been codified into political must-nots and should-dos.

Although political science exists, it is not used. Having studied the actual subject at Princeton University, I had some idea of its scope and exactness. Imagine my surprise when I found by questioning them—some were my personal friends—that politicians in the US were:

     a. Completely unaware that the subject of political science existed, and

     b. Saw no reason for such a science.

These men were governing the millions. Their everyday problems in office stemmed from mistakes in the past. Action taken contrary to political science’s natural law had involved them in difficulties beyond their depth, and ignorance of the technology was giving them their failures.

They did not even know the simple axiom “Laws which are not generated by the mores and customs of a people cannot be enforced even if passed.”

ECONOMICS

Another major area of neglect is economics.

This subject is far from lacking in developed technology.

There is a real subject called economics. Yet in its place there is injected a thousand alterations in order to “make a quick quid” or a “fast buck.”

The men who should know and use the subject have found it very profitable to obscure it. In this way they can sell a “bill of goods” to ignorant government leaders and oppress whole populations.

Inflation, balance of payments, crashes, deflating currencies, recessions all come from ignorance of or willful refusals to apply known, sound natural economic laws.

By fiddling the subject, the men who advise governments and their monetary systems can fiddle the books.

Such men, by altering natural laws to their own benefit, degrade and impoverish every citizen. They shrink one’s pay packet, swell one’s taxes to the explosion point and are primary factors behind every public revolt.

TAXATION

For instance, of late years, each time a nation’s currency trembled, the monarchs of money have demanded increased personal taxation. In fact, it is the country’s exported funds that are causing the trouble. How reducing funds internally solves too many funds overseas is a point that hasn’t been explained.

Following Lord Keynes’* alterations of natural economic laws, Western governments are all devoted today to the Keynes’ perversion of the law of supply and demand. The Keynes formula to make it all go right is “Create want.” If you follow that through, you will see that the Keynes’ utopia will wind up with the ultimate in “created want” which is of course starvation. So one is given the whole plan—to be economically sound, a population must be starved to death.

The grim joke is, however, at the expense of the money moguls. They are enriched by pushing false economic theory. But what they are playing with is the thing on which all their power depends—money. The worse off money gets, the more endangered are the fiddling financiers. If it’s any satisfaction, when they stare out of the economic ruins they have made, one will see their former empire in the worst ruin of all. When madmen assert apples always fall upwards and pretend there is no law of gravity, one expects they will sooner or later step off the roof of a ten story building expecting to fly.

The absence or misuse of the real technology of economics is a serious hole in all nations today and inevitably will spell the doom of this society—unless the H-bomb gets there first.

I, like LRH, do not believe in the "capitalistic system" but the system which is needed and will bring the true Golden Age? I know what that system will be but do not see it taking over until LRH concepts are more broadly understood and accepted -- particularly his Policy on "banking."

When and as the "magic" is applied of changing the SPs to become more ethical, and changing them at a distance, they will be come not more than what LRH termed "cleared cannibals."

The Cleared Cannibal Factor

When you clear a cannibal what do you have? Experientially you have a cannibal. His experiential track is such that he's been a cannibal for ages. That's how he's handled life and people around him, that's what he knows how to do. This person is unaware of his responsibilities to other dynamics and is unfamiliar with proper behavior and responsible actions towards others. In the case of an SP, he has been busy destroying others for so long that when he';s somewhat cleaned up on this he does not know what else to do or how to act. It's rather pathetic, actually.

ISOLATION

With someone in a psychotic break, it is necessary to isolate the person for him to destimulate and to protect him and others from possible damage. While in isolation the person receives the Introspection RD done flawlessly on a short-session basis, gradually winning and gaining confidence. Between sessions the muzzled rule is in force. No one speaks to the person or in his hearing.

There comes a point where the C/S must decide to release the person from isolation. To do this the C/S must know that the person can take responsibility for his actions as regards others, as well as toward himself.

C/S Action -- Cleared Cannibal Step

The C/S's action is a direct comm line to the person by notes. The person is provided with paper and pen to reply. The C/S must determine the person's responsibility level. Example: "Dear Joe, What can you guarantee me if you are let out of isolation?" If the person's reply shows continued irresponsibility toward other dynamics or fixation on one dynamic to the exclusion of others damaged, the C/S must inform the person of his continued isolation and why. Example: "Dear Joe, I'm sorry but no go on coming out of isolation yet. Your actions threatened the survival of hundreds of people indirectly and six families directly by burning down their houses. You are unaware of the effects this could have had and still only concerned about your own welfare. You must hate the human race quite a bit."

The C/S has drawn a conclusion based on the information he has and lets the person know where he stands. He does not reintrovert the pc by asking him, "Why did you burn down those houses?" He draws an accurate conclusion and indicates it.

This will elicit a protest from the person and bring about an involvement in the dynamics concerned. It also serves to bring about an awareness of consequences. Example: "But . . . . but . . . I never meant to threaten others' survival. I just wanted to burn down the houses because I like fires. Gosh . . . I didn't mean it. I don't hate the human race . . Oh! I really don't hate the human race."

The person's auditing is continued between these exchanges. The auditor may have to clean up some ARC breaks as the protest is coming off. Skillfully done, that's all the auditor should have to clean up, except maybe some more O/Ws. When it is obvious the person is out of his psychosis and up to the responsibility of living with others his isolation is ended.

Source HCOB 20 Feb 1974R, Revised 25 April 1991, Introspection RD Additional Actions, Page 613, Tech Vol X.

It is all fine to help a crook or corrupt politician become more honest, even if he didn't ask for that directly, but once he has changed to become more honest he will only know how to "burn down houses," and that is not a wanted skill in society. He is at a loss, doesn't know how to make a living. He may regret his harmful actions, but, after all, he only KNOWS burning down houses.

It could be that he has been VERY CLEVER at burning down houses, or hiding assets from the tax collector? That skill may have been very popular in a crooked society, but when the "tax collector" has, himself, become more honest and only collects taxes for the common good, the guy clever at hiding assets has no honest job until he learns one -- working on a farm could be a good idea!

There IS another possibility -- that one or more of the SPs involved here have a change of position and bring about one of the several, but very few, changes in laws and procedures. These were identified in the article I quoted above about the "purpose" of the deliberate design of the financial turmoil.

He needs to be isolated -- Mission Earth had the clue for us -- put him on a dessert island with no contact until he starts showing the taking of responsibility for others.

I see all around me people who voted for Obama, hoping that his promises of free money could rescue their futures. I see people hoping and waiting. Logic does not work on these people. They have committed overts on society by bringing to power a suppressive person and suppressive government.

Why am I, Karl Loren, so able to confront evil?

Or, am I wrong in my assessment?

"Waiting" is a "Hang up on Doubt," well described by LRH as a source of not only inaction, but self-harm.

Hang-up at Doubt:

It can occur that a person working up through the lower ethics conditions can get hung up at Doubt and not be able to complete the formula.

In such instances a PTS condition or false data may be found to exist.

PTS

In the Doubt Formula one follows the steps of the formula and by doing so is then able to make up his mind as to the individual group, org or project the condition is being applied to. But if he's PTS he is stuck in a problem and is unable to come to a decision.

When a person is faced with suppression, whether the actual suppression exists in present time or is a past suppression restimulated in present time, he is facing a counter-postulate.

A problem is a postulate-counter postulate resulting in indecision: the first manifestation of and the first consequence of a problem is indecision.

Therefore a PTS condition can hang one up at Doubt.

. . . .

Handling

On somebody who hangs up at Doubt, the Ethics Officer or whoever is handling him should check for a PTS condition or false data.

It can be one or the other or both.

A PTS condition is of course located and handled as per the existing materials on PTS tech.
. . .

Results

When the ethics conditions formulas are correctly and standardly applied, the results can be nothing short of miraculous.

With this discovery you'll get the results smoother and faster.

Use it.

L. Ron Hubbard

Vibrant Life has "lost" good people (Dennis, Archibald and von Hollen) because they accepted the assignment by Clifford Woods of lower conditions but then were unwilling to DO the conditions. These people left Vibrant Life with easily observed, even acknowledged, unhandled ethics conditions, even though the conditions were accepted as assigned.

The same is true of my daughter Maia Mulvena who, for a while, was not only ED here but heir-apparent to eventually own all of Vibrant Life.

Virtually the ONLY harm that can befall any being is self-harm. I do not choose to exercise that past practice again on myself --

As I thought about this further, it dawned on me that the "middle class morality" is now apparently shared by more than 50% of those who voted in the last US election -- and brought a demagogue to power.

I have never been much for sharing "middle class mores." Perhaps that is why I have had no trouble disagreeing with the middle class morality that endorses the "something for nothing" welfare state and free money promised and now being delivered by the US government, voted into power by that same middle class majority.

The LRH reference to "Middle Class Morality" is here:

PTS is a connection to an SP. That is true. But what may be overlooked is that persons of the middle class (which is a culture, not an income bracket, to which belong all the puritan hypocritical mores of the cop and the get-a-job-be-a-moderate-plugging-success) frown very terribly on anything that the least bit tries to make a better world. The middle class wants the world of a job and order and even hypocrisy and cops because they are AFFRAID. They hold their narrow views because any other views may disturb their twenty-year house mortgage, the store, the job. So when someone decides to make a better world, they look on him as a direct menace even though the full middle-class world is a sort of slavery and suicide. It is the middle class that tries the hardest to keep the down-and-outer out and down, who go along with a cop America and hate support of anything not their class. And nearly every PTS you have will be found one way or another to be PTS to the middle class. As a group, not as individuals, the middle-class-parent world suppresses anything different. So you have PTSes.

The bulk of your PTSes may very well be PTS to a class, the middle class of which their particular SP is simply a member. Few of them realize this or even that the middle class (bourgeoisie) ARE very suppressive to anyone who tries to do something in the world besides support the system. My attitude in this is that both the capitalist and the communist are alike old hat and a bore, that they've made a ruddy mess of things, exhausted the planet and, with their senseless wars, smashed up mankind.

I have sometimes heard that less PTSes are found than are found people with question "Do you have problems in your environment?" reading on a meter.

I began to wonder about it. Then I heard of PTSes being simply transferred or demoted. Now listen, these people are PTS and there must be a total grasp on that tech. It IS a tech.

It is definitely out tech to either (1) transfer someone who is PTS to another area yet still keep the person on one's line or (2) to put someone who is PTS on a lower post, AS A MEANS OF HANDLING, as it is not handling at all.

The person has to handle. If he does so, he will begin to get well and cease to have problems. The reasons he cannot handle are because he tries to do it in the heroic fashion that is required in a disconnect. Handling can be very, very gradient. I have seen a case where the person was simply coached to give his parents good roads and good weather and not take up any entheta and have seen the person pull right out of it and get well. It doesn't have to be an explosive handling. It can be very gentle. All you want is the person at cause and that is attained on a gradient toward the SP.

The whole crux of PTSes is HANDLE. And the misunderstood on it is how gently one can handle.

Many of them are caught up in the mystery of why they are snarled at and have no conception of the middle class as a formidable and jealous force that goes psychotic when it feels anyone may get away from the treadmill and threaten their uneasy and doomed lives.

One tries to find what it is and then persuades them into handling. That's the tech.

EVERY ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE CAN BE STRAIGHTENED OUT. EVERY ONE OF THEM SHOULD BE.

Every one who reads on "problems in your environment" is to some degree PTS. Most of them don't even know what the letters PRS stand for. So there is an educational step. The tech is in HCO PLs and HCOBs. It is perhaps given more directly herein, as it applies to that exact scene.

So go to it. Really get a grip on it. And handle the hell out of them yourselves.

Is our customer? Is our prospective customer? Is our prospect? IS OUR STAFF MEMBER? PTS to the middle class? Is he the adverse effect of the economic turmoil roiling the planet at this writing?

LRH has actually written a Policy with the single-word title "Economy" and it is instructive for us written aboard the Apollo on 11 June 1974, then issued as HCOPL on 21 September 1980:

Reports from experts and observers, Wall Street, Times, Barron's magazine, various sources, give a gloomy picture of the economy.

A lot of factors enter in, but money is suddenly very tight and many big corporations are threatened with bankruptcy.

Apparently some businesses are afraid to put ads in papers to employ people as they are unable to handle the resulting mobs of applicants.

In times like these one has to manage very industriously and watch outgo very carefully and somehow expand income.

This is not time to neglect areas or situations or to have an attitude of "nothing to do with me." It does!

What one can do about it is pretty simple: WEAR THE HAT ASSIGNED ONE AMBITIOUSLY, WORK AS A TEAM, GET OUT REAL PRODUCTS.

The usual reason one works hard with no product or an overt product at the end is lack of tech. One has not found or developed the tech necessary to do one's post.

Well, you'd be surprised how much time I spend in study. I find or develop the tech of what I do. Sure, there's trillions of years behind what I do. But the here and now is a planet of limited tech in almost every line of country. So what's here and now to do with the how s it to be done here?

One studies the area, one takes the data he can get, one develops what he can't, one applies what he finds. And the result is a real product.

When times get worse or conditions are not of the best, one has to study and work that much harder to make it.

There's no question of lying back and letting it ride. That would be pure self-destruction. So the way out in life is the way through.

I want us and I want you to make it.

LRH has this to say in a lecture:

Willingness to be and communicate

"You're not really upset by becoming things unless you are unwillingly forced into becoming something. And then you became something without your own determinism. And so you are being something you do not like to be, you do not want to be, and so you won't communicate with it. Although you're being it, you're not in communication with it.

"When you become willing to be it you simply communicate with it. The moment you communicate with it, it goes pshoo! It has the same solidity as a vacuum. And that is how engrams are blown, how locks are blown, how blocks, you might say held-down fives in computing machines, and so forth, go by the boards — that's how occlusion goes by the boards."

Theta-MEST Theory: Being a Problem Aspect
An article by L. Ron Hubbard, from the Universe Processes Congress

Just recently, I was working with it and suddenly realized that the principle of problems was inherent and was contained in the Theta-MEST Theory.

Here we have something which is itself a solver of problems, a poser, a solver of problems impinged upon something which is never more than a problem. The difference between theta and MEST is, of course, theta can get ideas and MEST sometimes receives them.
So we get theta as a no-motion thing impinged upon this all-motion thing, which is to say we get a solver, a poser and solver of problems here imposed on the raw material of problems. And that raw material is itself chaos.

And out of this chaos theta brings order in organization. Now, that's actually an old theory that life is bringing order out of chaos; that God, for instance, they say, one cult, religion or another says that God brought order out of a chaos, and so forth.

That's what a thetan is trying to do. He's trying to bring order out of a chaos. After he's failed several times he gets to be an organizer. But he gets fixated on it, but that is something that theta does. And this chaos is matter, energy, space, which in itself (combined at uniform rate) gives us time or MEST.

All right, you say, what's this theory got to do with me? It's got a lot to do with you. It sure has. Has a lot to do with processing. And at the moment this was struck as an advance point in research and investigation, there wasn't any more problem, because one had taken in the anatomy of problems into the woof and warp of Scientology itself.

What is the anatomy of a problem? Let's say, in terms of force, that a great many force vectors going in random directions will itself produce a confusion. That's the basic problem. A confusion. A number of force vectors traveling in a number of different directions.
Life comes along, stops one of them, gets two more of them to line up and unite, gets a bunch more of them to go a different direction, makes a pattern out of it, makes it repetitive and has an automobile, a dam, has some face powder, see? The raw material of the problem. A bunch of confused vectors of force. A bunch of force confusions being lined up in some fashion or another, or disaligned for some purpose or other.

Life has to put a purpose into that chaos and then make the chaos align itself. And so we have all kinds of things. We have automobiles, and we have thinking machines and electronic brains and nuclear physicists. We have all kinds of bric-a-brac in the society. Endless bric-a-brac, which is all planned and organized. …

The Theta-MEST Theory demonstrates that whatever is solving problems is Life, and whatever has problems to be solved is MEST.

Ain't that horrible?

Whatever is solving problems is Life. That could be said to be a definition of Life: that which is posing and solving problems. And that which has problems to be solved is MEST. Now, you see that? See that? …

That means — that means that the auditor-preclear relationship is not really dependent upon transference, valence switches or any complexity of this character. It puts the preclear into a position he was not before willing to be. And as long as he was unwilling to be in that position, he would himself force himself into the position.

That is to say, he's putting the preclear into the role of being the physical universe. And the preclear simply starts being audited, he starts answering up the answers to the problem, you see? He is taking that part of him which is the physical universe, which is relatively inanimate, which is not thinking, and he is willingly occupying that role and simply by being willing to be it and willingly occupying it, he blows it. And again becomes theta.

Excerpted from the lecture Theta-MEST Theory: Being a Problem Aspect

The answer to that situation is here.

For years our customers were seen as people who already disagreed with much of the middle class acceptance of traditional medical remedies.

Today even some of those same people have fallen into agreement with the middle class worries about the suppression from a new direction -- Obama government.

LRH has given us the "secret" of earning money. I think it applies in any time, but it is particularly applicable now:

In the lecture HOW AND WHEN TO AUDIT of THE FACTORS: ADMIRATION AND THE RENAISSANCE OF BEINGNESS lecture series LRH says:

“Well you as an individual will make as much money as you attract prosurvival attention. You can just absolutely – you can plot how much money any man is going to make with just that…

“Money flows toward points which attract prosurvival attention. All you've got to do is stand up there and keep on being prosurvival, and be prosurvival in a widening communicating sphere and you will just have to start throwing this stuff away!…

“But this is something you kind of ought to put down. You make money as much as you get attention, and you get as much attention in a society, as far as you put your communication lines out. And if you don’t put your communication points out in a society, there isn’t any flow-in in terms of money. That answers the buck, but it answers something else at the same time. It tells you to put out those communication lines. Put them way out.”

And, another LRH quote:

In Associate Newsletter No 4, May 1953, LRH says:

“Your Success depends upon the production of an effect, your finance depends upon attracting interest. If you find finance faltering, you will discover immediately why if you realize that the financial system is a communications system and that communications systems are the background of what you are doing. A person who is trying to prevent communications from occurring will try to prevent money from being received. If a person finds himself diffident* about money, he need only run ‘I can have money’ ‘ I cannot have money’ and, in addition to that, the negative and positive on accepting and delivering communications. Money is not a sordid subject, it is the measure of the amount of attention you are attracting. If you are trying to prevent observation from viewpoints, you will not make money.”

Here is what LRH says about "money:"

“We have a subject on which there is no basic agreement, and about which, none of us don’t know much, evidently.
“A subject however which is quite current. A subject which we find doled out from time to time. A subject which makes or breaks men with the greatest of ease. A subject which is really the root of a great many love affairs. A subject which is quite convertible. A subject for which there are probably more slang terms than any other subject in the language. That subject is money.

“US notes very, they’re different. The money is much better than English money because there are more vias. American money is much better than English money because there are more vias.
“Now, English money is issued by an organization which is part and parcel of the British government. In other words, there was some authority to issue the money. But in America that’s not the case. Money in America, the most of it that you have issued to you, is issued by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York City, which is a very private organization. I know. I tried to walk in there once (I thought there might be something lying around loose) and only after I had shown them my Intelligence cards, only after I had shown them my citizenship papers, had answered up on a lie detector, did they then throw me out. Boy, are they exclusive!
“Well, this is a private organization and it issues pieces of green paper which are beautifully engraved. Of course, the whole subject of engraving is in disgrace, you realize that. Because the best engravers of the country are in jail. This is so much the case that the Bureau of Printing and Engraving, when it wants somebody to make some money for it, you know, they go down to the local pen and parole somebody onto their payroll. Actually, that’s how it got to be known as a federal payroll.

“And what is the character of money? Money is a commodity. It is a substitute. It is a thing. It is something that people push around. It is something that is defined in economic textbooks. It is something which is exchanged. It is something which is printed, it is coined, it is minted. It is something for which people get killed. It is something that makes it worthwhile to become a robber. It is something with which you pay dues, tithes, taxes. It’s, in short, the weenie in any given culture. It is the thing everybody is after. If you didn’t have something that everybody was after then you wouldn’t have any game.
“And so we get down to one of the most fundamental agreements of our present society: that money is something everybody is after and very few people have. Now, it takes that stable datum. It is valuable. In order for a thing to be valuable, it is, of course, somewhat scarce. If you gave people enough money they would simply go on and buy produce and live happy lives and carry on, and so forth, and you couldn’t have that.
“So you keep it scarce and they have a game. They get up in the morning worrying about how they’re going to get another one of these pieces of paper. And they go to bed at night realizing that they’ve spent one of those pieces of paper that they shouldn’t have spent. And they have nightmares that somebody has suddenly filled up their bed full of money and they wake up to find out that it’s not money, it’s bills. And, we get into all sorts of interesting complexities by which one man owes another man money. And he doesn’t pay him the money, so the court gives him a summons and then they take him down to court and they have a big case. And if it’s on a piece of paper and he had a piece of paper saying it, why, then of course the other fellow could pay him the money because he’s got proof that the money didn’t change hands when it should have changed hands. You get the idea? And you get a very nice game going that nobody can understand. And they can’t understand it for the basic reason that there isn’t anything there to understand.”

Here is another vital LRH Policy we must follow:

In HCO PL 18 Jan 65 BUILDING FUND ACCOUNT from Management Series Vol 3 LRH says:

“INCOME POTENTIAL

“The income potential of any usual group is established by the demand for income, not by any other important factor.

“In financial supervision on an international basis, this is the only factor one works with. While it is reasonable to suppose that income will occur for other reasons and can be achieved in other ways, the actual fact is that only demand by the group produces any income at all.

“You can, for use in financial supervision, make the requirement almost anything you like and, so long as a group believes it is spending all it makes and needs more, you will have adequate income.

“For practical purposes, no other rules apply…

“When a surplus is made part of the ‘need’ by disguised outgo a surplus occurs. Only then will it occur. It will not happen otherwise.

“You can waste 15 percent of an organization’s income to obtain a 5 percent surplus and it will be a wise action. If you seek a surplus by trying to save the 15 percent instead in a visible way, you will not only lose the 15 percent but the 5 percent also.

“You can only attain a financial cushion in an org by removing it out of reach so that it appears to be spent, then producing it when the org overspends or gets in trouble.

“…a group, to work, must believe it is spending all it makes.

“Money, to begin with, is only an abstract idea. Therefore it is the victim of all manner of thoughts and opinions.

“Add to these good promotion and excellent technical and you have the reasons we are becoming strong all over the world.

“Financial management is not accountancy. It’s people. As head of an org if you can think your way around collective-think you can become solvent and even have surplus. Maybe it shouldn’t be that way but it is.”

If we can accept and understand that the current chaos on the planet and any shortage of customers --- these are just elements of a game. When we understand all this as a "game" we can understand it and win:

In the Lecture GAMES, of 12 January 1955, from the newly released THE GOLDEN DAWN PHOENIX EVENING LECTURES, LRH says:

“So, most people, by the way, are involved in playing the game that is long over. And that’s what we call aberration. Aberration is playing a game that finished some time ago, according to other people’s agreements. If anybody really insists on fighting the War of 1812 again, today, everybody would think he was crazy. We have a girl right now who is busy fighting the French Revolution. And everybody agrees she’s crazy, but all she’s doing is fighting the French Revolution. She thinks spies—she thinks anybody who walks up to her, auditor, something like that—she’ll become very disgusted if she finds out that he’s not one of her spies. You see? So the thing that a real game requires is something else—present time.

“All right. So now we have the two players, the gimmick that everybody is after—the weenie—and present time.

“Well, what’s present time require?

“Well, it requires only this: we’ve got an agreed-upon point on the time track in which to pass the gimmick back and forth and to look after and run after this gimmick. We’ve got an agreed-upon area.

“Now, somebody who’s playing a game way back in the past, or even somebody who’s playing a game way up in the future, takes the gimmick and gives it a good pass, you see, and—no players. So he hasn’t got a game, has he? Of course, he could have somebody with him way up in the future, but then he’d be starting another universe.

“All right. This present time—this present time affair is merely the agreed-upon moment in which we all are. And we’ve agreed that there is a moment in which we can play this game and that game is this moment called present time. So we get the other requisites of a game, which are space, energy and a playing field. ‘You’ve got something to stand on’ is very nice, when you’re playing a game, but we can play a game with simply space. Two thetans can just take some space and play a game. All right.

“…where you have too many opponents, you have chaos. Where you have too few causes, you have no games. The thing that could be said to be wrong about Man today is the fact that he is in the serious condition of being very, very short on games. Unless somebody comes along and, to some degree, aligns Man’s efforts in some direction, instead of internally ‘each man is a team,’ unless somebody shows Man (or unless Man spontaneously shows himself) that he does have enemies that can be fought, then insanity, neurosis, criminality and boredom with life will result.”

Here is another applicable quote from LRH:

In the lecture MONEY of 6 December 1956, LRH says:

“Now, let’s look over this thing, the nonproducer. And we realize that somebody who stands there and simply shuttles money back and forth and takes so much of it is a bog in the economic world. He’s a bog. He must replace the money he takes out with something—service, good looks, winning ways, a pleasant smile, something! But if he puts nothing on that line the economy is apt to cave in, simply because there’s somebody there who is consuming who isn’t producing. And therefore, capitalism is not a sound theory of economics, and it goes up and down and people revolt against capitalism.

“Listen, the peasants of France of the fourteenth century had never heard the word communism. Well, that didn’t restrain them from revolting against the first capitalist in France who started to issue paper money. They revolted like mad! This doesn’t restrain anything.

“It doesn’t matter what words you put on it; as long as you’re dealing with this commodity called money, you get this phenomenon called capitalism. See, it’s an interesting phenomenon. But just regard it as a phenomenon, not necessarily bad or good about anything but the economy. A capitalist is simply bad for his own economy, you get the idea? He’s bad for his own economy, not necessarily a bad person.

“All right. We take this whole lineup and we look at the other end of the scale that gets created thereby. A fellow is made to produce, produce, produce, produce, produce, and he can’t have any of this stuff called money. Got the idea? And we therefore get a peasant or a worker class that is way subnormal.

“So, when you get a fellow way up at the top who is taking money off the line without contributing anything to it, somewhere or another there’s some fellow who is going to have to work twice as hard and get nothing for it.

“And that’s what starts revolutions in the world. That’s really the basic woof and warp of revolutions. They are nine-tenths economic, only one-tenth political. And we see the whole of the world getting tangled up this way. Well, what are they tangling up over? They’re tangling up over the fellow who can’t work.

“The Indian tribe that goes to pieces, goes to pieces because there are only fifteen men of the tribe who are hunting—there are ten other men of the tribe who are just eating. And the fifteen men after a while can’t shoot enough game for twenty-five men and all the women and children that went along with it, so the tribe starts to starve to death. What made them starve to death? The guys who were eating without hunting. You see this? So we get an imbalance because of indigence.”

Here is my advice for our general future plans:

If the lender, as is true, is as guilty as the borrower for a loan the borrower should not have taken, then when the debt matures and is repudiated, nay, the very currency is repudiated, the losers are everyone -- for all are responsible.

Historically it has always seemed third dynamic death for a country to default on its government bonds and devalue its currency.

Inflation is the likely way to "solve" the US debt and then worthless currency is the "final outcome" even if some pretend it was not intended.

Who gets hurt:
  • The rapacious lender who knew the borrower could not repay?
  • The borrower who took more money than he could repay?
  • The neighbor who, being prudent, lived within his means, but said nothing to or about either?
  • ALL!
  • Who is NOT harmed by Government failure, Government deliberate inflation and eventual worthless currency?
  • There IS an answer.
  • The person, the business, where nimble attention to speed of inflation allows adjustment of demand (for salary or goods sold) upwards at least somewhat faster than inflation makes values decline
  • The person, the business, who does NOT buy or use worthless or even harmful products or services.
There was a time, many years ago, when the Church announced that the obvious inflation in the land would be met by the Church raising its selling prices for books, auditing, any service by 5% per month, without statement of time period limit.

Anyone could avoid the pain of these MONTHLY increases for a product that they KNEW would be good and would be delivered by simply paying in advance for future use.

The "collateral" for "money" simply became the goods and services (not gold) which the person KNEW he would want, would consume and where the person had confidence that the vendor (the Church) would be willing and able to deliver.

The only further concern any should have would be, "Can the Church use any massive, sudden increase in the inflow of soon-to-be-worthless currency to acquire its ability to create future production and thus satisfy the future demand for the prepaid goods and services?"

The answer to that one is for the person, or group to use the soon-to-be-worthless paper currency to purchase goods and services which, without worry or doubt, IT COULD STORE and then USE FOR PRODUCTION, NOT USE as a substitute for money and barter for other services it might need -- THEN.

The wise person, then, builds up stores of needed raw materials, even needed consumables, for future needs, even invests in SERVICES that make current staff and facilities MORE productive for future production.

As Bruce says, his advice to hold gold and silver is for true RESERVES that can be used for future but unpredicted detail of need; however for the personal productivity gain and current business activity, acquire and hold that in bold blue above:  that needed for USE for future production and satisfaction of future demand.

The Church, just now, is near the end of a massive "spending" program to acquire "model org buildings" from which staff can deliver future services.  We are close to being ready with many hundreds of large, newly renovated buildings, all around the planet, to provide the space for massive future delivery of service.

The Church, over many recent years, has taken into its own premises the space and machinery for printing the books which are the future promotion, assured the copyright protection and authenticity of these books (so criminals cannot "produce" them as cheap counterfeits.  I can bet that these printing facilities have laid in supplies of paper, and such, for massive future production.

The Church has, over all its existence, recruited staff who have not demanded and do not expect or demand large, even societal-comparable salaries, but has increasingly supplied housing, food and even clothing for that staff.

Clifford Woods is keen on Vibrant Life acquiring housing for all our staff in a central location. My own, personal, housing situation just improved to a status of the landlord of our rented house talking favorably about our having a two year lease with future-fixed payments, not indexed on inflation, with continuing options for renewals for two years (until the death of one of us when the other would not need this size house and can move into smaller quarters).

We need to find ways of ensuring future inventory-supply of our products and even more ways of ensuring that our products can be stored for longer periods so that our customers can take advantage of our own rapid sales prices when the inflation becomes rampant, and we, just like the Church, need to find ways of converting our soon-to-be-worthless paper currency, received against future delivery, into something that will provide the future raw materials, or

Our partner in India, having read the above, has sent this comment. I agree with his assessment -- and suggest that whether or not the US dollar is knocked from the throne, the US consumers are in for hard times and WE need to be particular about understanding and applying the LRH Management technology here.

Dear Loren,

Your analytical understanding of the economic situation and the forethought of Cliff to acquire housing for the staff are admirable.

Fortunately, 17 years ago, when EBNL was under making, with no financial crisis around in India at that time, we did ensure that the important 2nd line staff have their housing (self acquired or company acquired or assisted) - which was quite within our means to provide. All my present permanent staff have their own houses now, including peons (office assistants). Had we not done that at that time (with some available surplus money) - we would have been in a terrible shape today - as purchasing a house is a huge task now - the prices having been sky rocketed.

Housing provides a stable datum for existence of an individual - and the provider normally gets all the gratitude deserved. This is one way to create a strong sense of belonging of the staff to the company. In order to repay the debt - often the employees over produce to enrich the company - if all other factors are in place.

US-Economy:

No where else have people been so spoiled as in USA through "consumption oriented - credit based" culture. Spending unearned money is the fundamental violation of ethics. This is absence of sense of propriety (TWTH).

Fundamentally, economy means - production of goods and services and exchange of them among people.

Medium of exchange (currency & credit cards etc) will have to be limited in their volume to be commensurate with the volumes of goods and services being produced and consumed by the population. US chose the most unethical route of manufacturing only the currency (out of proportion to its own production of goods and services) to import or buy goods and services from the world - in the process becoming an international bankrupt.

To ensure the validity of its own currency ($) globally - to support its consumption - it resorted to coercive international tactics of attacking and subjugating smaller and weaker countries - which is further violation of ethics. Now US finds itself in a situation of ethics hitting it back. US has now forced the rest of the world to find an alternative to US$ as an international stable currency - to wriggle out of US clutches - and to keep such currency under the control of international community.

Obama is too small, too immature, too naive to understand this and tackle it. This is a systemic & cultural failure - coming for along time!

I agree now with your dooms day prediction! I hope India learns from US experience!

MSR

Take all this into account when looking for customers who are "still able to disagree with this new middle class culture." Follow the example of the Church -- greatly expand our marketing reach -- bulk eMail has certainly been the apparent tool of choice being used by the Church.

I am very pleased that Mr. Clifford Woods has developed that tool for our use also.
