Took a quick look at Covad’s site. They over offer what (at least on the surface) seems to be a good T1 service for only $439/ month. Their SDSL (equivalent of what you’re getting through Megapath is also only $209 a month.
I don’t now why you switched to Megapath, but Covad certainly has better deals on the same services. Though I’m not sure they can still offer service at this location.

… I looked a little deeper, the price of $439 was for the slowest T1 line available which has a transfer rate of only 384 kbps (this would be about the same speed as your current DSL)… for a full T1 line that transfers at 1.5 mbps it would cost $619 / month. I would suspect most other providers would try this same technique of advertising the low end T1 price.
There is also a one time fee of $649 for equipment. Installation is free.
They also offer 1.5 mbps SDSL for $299.95, which would be theoretically as quick as the T1 service, but probably not quite as reliable. Interesting, but probably only worth a small amount of investigation.
