5 Simple Ways To Balance The Root Chakra
How can you balance the root chakra?
There are many ways to balance a chakra just like there are many ways it can become unbalanced. You may find some things work better for you than others, for example, balancing through sound is very effective for me as i don’t visualise as well. Here are 5 simple techniques that you can use to bring balance to your root chakra.
1. Barefoot walking.
Many scientific studies have shown that walking barefoot can reduce stress, improve sleep and decrease muscle soreness. Even just being away from the stresses of life and in nature can help (barefoot or not!). Barefoot walking is great for grounding as you are directly connected to the earths rejuvenating energy.
2. Imagine the colour red as you meditate.
Meditation whilst visualising the colour red is a great way to visualise the chakra being healed, especially good if you can visualise colours. Colours have been shown, which is why red is a powerful eye catching colour and yellow is mentally stimulating. This supports the idea that colours carry a resonance which impacts the chakras. Try this one just before bed as a calming alternative.
3. Using your voice.
Harmonising the sound which the root chakra resonates at is a direct and effective way to shift the frequency. You can tell if it is having an effect when you feel a slight pressure at the base of your spine or seem calmer after. Projecting a long ‘O’ sound after taking a deep breath in is very stimulating, and is good for keeping your chakra in the right frequency.
Here is a video i found on youtube which i found to be especially helpful in explaining this, and just listening to this even had an effect on me in the car, so great for when you don’t want to project your voice!
One of the best tools for grounding is yoga, mainly because it allows getting in touch with our bodies. Also as you are focusing on connecting with the earths energy you become more grounded. It is a great habit to get into as you can introduce as part of your daily exercise routine, whilst maintaining your chakras.

5. Cold Showers.
Sounds crazy huh? It sort of is! However, there is good research backing cold showers and their ability to reduce stress. This is partially due to the immediate stress of being in ultra-cold water and once the body overcomes this and gets used to it, it can deal with emotional stress in a similar way. It is also reinvigorating for the body and can really help to take your mind off problems (as well as being good for your muscles and skin too). Try a 30-day cold shower challenge if you really want to kick your chakras back into balance!
